SMP for thinning hair

There can be many reasons for hair thinning and this affects both men and women. If you have noticed more of your hair falling out and can see more of your scalp, then this treatment is an excellent camouflage.

Or maybe you have had a hair transplant, but you feel that your hair still doesn’t look thick enough, or if you have had FUE which has thinned out the back of your hair, SMP density treatment is excellent.

Hormonal related hair loss is known to affect more women than men. For example most women experience accelerated hair loss at the end of a pregnancy and the following 6 months while the body resets itself. Women also experience an increased hair loss during the menopause, due to the reduced production of estrogen changes. Although hair loss related to hormones is quite natural, it can be really upsetting when it gets extreme and continues for more than 6 months.

Female pattern baldness also known as androgenetic alopecia is hair loss that affects women. Although it is similar to male pattern baldness, the hair loss tends to be in a different pattern. Up to two thirds of women experience hair loss after the menopause.

A lot of men and women will resort to different sprays and fibres to put into the hair to disguise the scalp from showing, and although they are a good short term fix, long term, these can cause issues to the hair follicles. Fibres and sprays are very effective to covering the ‘whiteness’ of the scalp but they are very messy, and when wet will ‘run’.

SMP is a permanent option that can help to hide the fact that your hair is thinning and enables you to live your life without worry. There are no give a ways on your pillowcase, nothing to stop you going in the pool on holiday. This treatment will make your hair look denser without damage to the rest of the hair follicles and the feedback I have had is that it is not as painful as you would expect.

Once I have completed the treatment it will look like your hair is thicker, the scalp where the thinning area is will be a lot less noticeable When I do a patch test, even when I point it out, most people can’t even see it!

It takes normally 3 sessions to complete your density treatment and each session can be from 1 to 4 hours long, depending on the amount of thinning you have – I will be able to confirm this when you have your consultation, click here to book a consultation.

During the consultation, I will be able to give you the cost, discuss your requirements, payment instalments and get all 3 appointments in the diary. I will also carry out a patch test which gives you an opportunity to see what it feels like. Not only am I patch testing you to ensure you don’t have a reaction (I have never known anyone to have one), but it enables me to choose the colour mix that I think will match the colour of your existing hair. By doing this it means that when I start your first session, the healed patch test guides me as to what mix to use, therefore not wasting the first session by using a mix that’s too light.

I use a product called Alivio which is an organic pigment made up of carbon and I dilute this down with water to match your hair colour. It is a very safe and stable product that has excellent healed results.
